  • If you do not have health insurance, complete a financial eligibility screening form to see if you qualify for assistance. If you do not qualify, you will be charged the cash pay price.
  • If you are enrolled in a specialized program that covers your medical costs, such as the UMC Blue Card or CHAMPS, please let the front desk know when you register.

Detailed Eligibility Criteria for Vaccines

  • If you are under 19 and uninsured (no health insurance), you qualify for the Texas Vaccines for Children Program (TVFC). We will provide vaccines covered by the program for an administration fee of $13 for the first dose and $7 for each additional dose provided at the same visit. If you need help paying the administration fee, complete a financial eligibility screening form to see if you qualify for assistance.
  • If you are under 19 and have Medicaid or CHIP, you qualify for the Texas Vaccines for Children Program (TVFC). We will provide vaccines covered by the program at no cost.
  • If you are an adult and have Medicaid, we may be able to provide vaccines covered by your Medicaid plan at no cost. The vaccines available are limited and subject to availability.
  • If you have Medicare, we may be able to provide vaccines covered by your Medicare Part B plan. Medicare Part B covers an annual flu and COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccines available are limited and subject to availability. Local pharmacies are usually the best option for vaccines under the Medicare program.
  • If you are an adult and uninsured (no health insurance), you qualify for the Adult Safety Net (ASN) Program. We will provide vaccines covered by the program for an administration fee of $20 per vaccine. If you need help paying the administration fee, complete a financial eligibility screening form to see if you qualify for assistance. The vaccines under this program are limited and subject to availability.

Most insurance plans cover recommended vaccines at no cost for adults and children. If you have private health insurance, we recommend you make an appointment with a local pharmacy or clinic to receive your vaccine. Please let us know if you cannot find the vaccine you need, and we can review your options.

If you need a vaccine not covered by your insurance plan or a state program (TVFC/ASN), we may be able to provide the vaccine for a cash pay price. The department's financial assistance program only covers clinical services, such as the vaccine administration fee; it does not cover the cost of the vaccine. Uncommon vaccines, such as rabies, may need to be ordered ahead of time. Please speak with the front desk staff for more information.

Our goal is to serve everyone who walks through our doors. If you have concerns about the cost of your visit, please speak with the front desk staff, and we will review available options with you.
