Parks Staff Member Honored by Texas Historical Commission

Selby honored by Texas Historical CommissionThe Texas Historical Commission’s Archeology Committee has honored Diane Selby with an Award of Merit in recognition of efforts to protect and preserve cultural resources at Lake Alan Henry. Selby is a Wildlife Biologist for the City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department and manages the Lake Alan Henry Wildlife Mitigation Area. Selby educates people about the cultural resources at Lake Alan Henry, giving presentations and on-site tours to civic groups, schools, and others.

The Texas Historical Commission offers awards to recognize worthy accomplishments and exemplary leadership in the preservation of Texas’ heritage. The Award of Merit recognizes the efforts and/or contributions of an individual or organization involved in preserving Texas’ cultural and historical resources.

“I am honored to receive this award. It is gratifying to have your work acknowledged and appreciated,” Selby said. Selby received the Award of Merit during the Texas Historical Commission’s July 27 meeting at the Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock.
