The City of Lubbock will hold a ribbon cutting on Friday, January 10, 2014 to announce the completion of North Slide Road. The ribbon cutting will take place at 10 a.m. on January 10 at the intersection of Slide Road and Marshall Street. The new street is expected to open to traffic the following week.
The work on North Slide Road between Marshall Street and U.S. Highway 84 was done as part of the Northwest Passage Project which also included the extension of Slide Road from Loop 289 to Erskine Street. Construction work on the North Slide Road project, which finished on-time, cost $5.44 million. Federal funding paid for 80 percent of the cost, while a private development group led by the McDougal Companies paid the City’s 20 percent ($1.088 million).
