The installation of a new sanitary sewer pipe along Milwaukee Avenue will require the temporary closure of the 114th Street intersection at Milwaukee Avenue beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 17. This will affect traffic on 114th Street between Frankford Avenue and Upland Avenue and traffic along Milwaukee Avenue south of 114th Street.
The intersection will be temporarily closed for a period of 48 hours. This closure will allow work crews to trench across 114th Street and install the new pipe. If no problems are encountered during construction, the intersection will be reopened by 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19. Motorists will be alerted to the road closure by electronic message boards.
The new sanitary sewer is being installed ahead of roadway paving as a part of the Milwaukee Avenue and 98th Street Paving Improvement Project. The paving project will widen Milwaukee Avenue to 7-lanes between 94th Street and 114th Street, and will widen 98th Street to 3-lanes between Milwaukee Avenue and Huron Avenue. The entire paving project should be completed by March/April 2014.
