The City of Lubbock’s Parks and Recreation Department will again host the Punt, Pass, and Kick Sectional Competition at the Berl Huffman Athletic Complex on October 18, 2008. Participants will register and warm-up from 9:00-9:45 a.m. with the competitions beginning at 10:00 a.m.
From the Texas Panhandle south to Midland, area youth will begin competing in local Punt, Pass and Kick (PPK) contests held at area schools during August and September. Since 1961, boys and girls ages 6 to 15 have participated in this national skills competition in punting, passing, and placekicking, and many current NFL players participated in Punt, Pass and Kick as youth. Regional schools interested in holding a competition for their students should contact O. J. Williams, 775-2672, with the City of Lubbock’s Parks and Recreation Department for information on how to host an event. More information is also available at www.nflyouthfootball.com.
Regional schools must hold their events by September 30, 2013, to be eligible for the Punt, Pass and Kick Sectional Competition held in Lubbock in October. Scores from the first place winners in each age bracket are compared statewide with the top five finishers advancing to the Dallas Cowboy Team Championships.
