Lubbock is lucky to have over seventy parks within the city limits with a large variety of wildlife including birds, reptiles, mammals and fish. Our city also falls within the Central Flyway, and throughout the year a large number of migratory birds fly through our region. This makes Lubbock parks a great place to view wildlife and to enjoy the outdoor experience with family and friends.
Parks and Recreation partners with the Llano Estacado Audubon Society (LEAS) to coordinate the Great Backyard Bird Count each year. In addition, LEAS coordinates the Christmas Bird Counts for this region.
