The Day The Music Died
February 3rd

February 3rd  marks  the  anniversary of the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson (The Big Bopper). The Buddy Holly Center invites the public to this event each year to celebrate their lives and legacies. Admission to the Buddy Holly Center is free on this day.







Staycation

The Buddy Holly Center invites children ages 9 and up to participate in creating Spring Break Staycation Crafts each year during Spring Break!

Summer Showcase Concert Series
 Thursdays from late May - late August

The Buddy Holly Center hosts summers of music and fun with the annual Summer Showcase Concert Series. Performances are every Thursday evening from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm in the Meadows Courtyard. Join us and enjoy original Texas-made music in a family friendly environment. Summer Showcase performances, and admission to the Buddy Holly Center during performance hours, are free to the public. 2015 Schedule of Bands







MAD Camp
M.A.D. (Music, Art and Drama)Camp

Each Summer the Center invites children ages 9 - 12 to go M.A.D. and have fun learning the beginner skills necessary to achieve their creative dreams at Music, Art and Drama Camp.

The Buddy Holly Center honors the birthday of Lubbock's most famous son each year on September 7th. The event, and admission to the Buddy Holly Center, are both free on this day. 







Poodle Skirts

Poodle Skirts & Hot Rods
In conjunction with Buddy's Birthday Bash

Come to the Buddy Holly Center each year for a day of creativity and fun as we celebrate Buddy Holly's Birthday Bash!  Kids can take a step back into the 1950s and create their very own poodle skirt or hot rod!


 


 
 

 
Procesion

Procesiόn 
End of October or Early November

The Buddy Holly Center participates in Lubbock's city-wide observance of the Mexican holiday, Día de los Muertos, by hosting Procesiόn with the TTU International Cultural Center, TTU School of Art and Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts. This event features performances and art-making activities, and is free and open to the public.
